Personal development   My mother, my hero Every child believes his or her mother is the best in the world. Apparently, as people grow up and start getting to learn the ways of life, they change the perceptions about their parents, and the mother is not spared, she stops being the hero that the child has always known. This should not be misconstrued to suggest that children no longer love their parents, but rather that children now see the shortcomings that their parents have, and understand them. The same case has applied to me, only that even today, I still think my mother as a heroine, the most important person that has seen me develop to who I am. I would bet that were it not for the strong will of my mother, her guidance and, albeit although painful, her punishment, I would not be who I am today. I am so proud of her, and the fact that she has made me a useful person in life. Roosevelt said that as a leader, there is no more a painful thing than to look back and see that no one is following, for then you would not be a leader, you would be a lone walker. My mother was my leader and I am sure she has not at any time looked back and failed to see me following her. The importance of the mother in development of a child may not be appreciated as a child while the child is still very young, but later as the child grows he learns to appreciate the mother, and indeed both parents and those surrounding him. In my case, I grew up with my mother being the closest relative to me as my father used to work away from home and only came on weekends. We therefore never got so acquainted to each other. On the other hand, I lived with my mother whom I learned everything from. She taught me how to behave when we had visitors, how I was to aIDress adults and how I was to interact with my peers. Of course all this was not done with words; rather I learned this by observation. …………………………………………………………………………………………………….
